      Stress is a part of life. It happens when the body perceives a situation or a thing as a threat. It is the body’s way of protecting us from harm. However, too much of it can have bad effects on our lives. Also, it can affect the functioning and mental health. Luckily, there are ways on how to deal with it. Knowing the types of stress can help one decide what type of action to take to manage it.

      1. Acute Stress

      It is one of the most common types of stress. It results from constant demands and pressure. These may come from the past or expected of the near future. It can be thrilling and exciting. However, too much of it is tiring. A morning jog can be exciting. Also, jogging can be tiring late in the day. Most people easily notice these symptoms. It only happens for a short time. That is why it does not leave any long-term damage to people. One can look for an easy way to treat it.

      2. Acute Episodic Stress

      This type can result from frequent stress. Common effects of stress are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and having negative thoughts. Hence, people who have this are irritable and can easily get angry. They may describe themselves as having a lot of negative energy. Also, they feel like they are always in a hurry. Others may view their irritability as anger. As a result, relationships are negatively affected.

      Over time, they may develop some signs. For instance, headaches, high blood pressure, chest pain, and other diseases. Also, treatment may take many months. One needs the help of a doctor. However, the treatment will vary according to the person.

      3. Chronic Stress

      It can damage the body, mind, and lives. Also, it happens when those who have it don’t see a way out of their difficult situation. They easily give up on searching for a solution. It may start from early bad childhood experiences. It can also be the result of different thinking and belief in life. Therefore, the treatment of the effects of stress requires a doctor’s help. Patients need the right medical care. Hence, if not treated, it may kill. Those who have it can resort to suicide or violence. Additionally, it can also lead to heart illnesses.

      4. Physical Stress

      It is a result of a serious injury. Hence, it can be the result of a previous infection, surgery, or dental procedure. Other factors like pollution, fire, and storm may lead to it. Other causes can also include changes in the body, use of drugs, and fatigue.

      5. Psychosocial Stress

      This type of stress comes from the relationship with others. It may come from relationship or marriage difficulties. Negative relationships with an employee, employers, or family members can lead to it. Other sources are lack of support and loss of employment. Those who have experienced the loss of a loved one may also experience this.

      6. Psychological Stress

      Psychological Stress is a reaction of the body when one encounters a stressful situation. It can include emotional stress from frustration, fear, sadness, anger, and grief. Psychological stress may also come from anxiety, panic attacks, or low self-esteem.

      Management

      It is good to know that it can be managed in several ways. As a starter, you can start having a positive attitude. Think about the things that make you happy. Focus on what motivates you. Try to differentiate what you can and cannot control.

      Furthermore, practice gratitude. It can create a positive feeling. Having a positive mind can make you feel happy. Adopt a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly. Engaging in exercise is good for overall health. It can release tension and relax the mind. It can drive away negative thoughts because it helps in thinking clearly. You can start slow and increase your activities over time. 

      Go for a walk outside for 30 minutes each day. Doing relaxation activities can also help. These include yoga and breathing exercises. Eat healthy foods. Also, diet plays an important role in our mood. Go for foods that are healthy and good for the mind and body. These are important to keep you focused and alert. It can also boost your mood. Take a break, especially if you are feeling tired. Above all, rest well and try to sleep for at least seven hours.
