      Most of the time, a spider bite at home is harmless. Hence, some are not actually from spiders but from bugs. Also, some infection on the skin is mistaken as spider bites. Therefore, it is essential to know the actual spider bites symptoms. It is especially true if you are outside and bitten by a real spider.

      Moreover, not all of them have fangs that can get deep into the skin. Also, very few have strong poison that can hurt humans. Signs of bites may differ according to the type of spider. Also, a person’s reaction depends is they are allergic to it or not. 

      1. Signs of Spider Bites

      Usually, a bite from a spider may look like an ordinary bug bite. One may have a red, itchy, and painful bump on the skin. However, some will become unnoticed and will not bother you. Likewise, those that are living inside houses are harmless. Also, they might not give some signs. The following are a common type of spider and their spider bites symptoms:

      Black Widow Bites

      In case you have been bitten by a black widow, then you may feel these signs.

      • One can experience pain and spider bite swelling in the area. However, you may also feel pain in your back, chest, and tummy area.
      • Aside from red and itchy bumps, you may also have stomach cramps. The pain might serious and mistaken for other illnesses. 
      • Another sign is chilling with extreme sweating.

      Brown Recluse Bites

      A bite from this spider may cause pain that can increase over time. Hence, it will start with no signs at all and progress to serve pain with fever. Also, one can feel body pains and chills. Treatment is topical or antihistamine, but it can go away on its own after a week.

      Moreover, the center of spider bite swelling might have a blue to purple color. It may have an open wound that can become serious if not treated. Therefore, it is important to protect it from infection. The wound may take a few months to heal.

      2. Signs to See a Doctor

      Typically, a spider bite will not cause any concern. However, one may need to see a doctor if you notice the following situations:

      • If you are not sure if the bite is from a poisonous type of spider. 
      • In case you have serious pain and growing wounds in the area.
      • Also, if you are having trouble breathing.

      A doctor may give you a tetanus shot if you do not get it in the past five years.

      3. Possible Causes

      Spider bite rash can happen because of skin irritation from the bite. Also, severe signs can occur if it is from a poisonous spider. The seriousness depends on the type of spider and how much poison is injected into your skin. Also, how sensitive you are to its poison. Therefore, its effect is different from one person to another.

      4. Risks of the Bite

      The risks become higher if you are living in a place close to its natural home. Hence, the black widow and brown recluse lives in places where it is darker and warmer. Most of them can live in:

      • Inside the garage
      • Sheds
      • Unused tools and equipment
      • Woods
      • Closet and cabinets

      Furthermore, with the brown recluse, they like to live in unused areas and indoors like:

      • Attics
      • Basements
      • Dressers
      • Bookshelves
      • Cabinets

      Outdoor, they usually stay in dark, dry, and quiet areas.

      5. Ways to Prevent Spiders

      Spider bite happens as a way to defend themselves. Likewise, they will bite if trapped between an object and your skin. Therefore, there are ways to prevent spider bite rash:

      • Know what dangerous spider look like
      • Find out where they usually live and stay away from these places.
      • If you need to go to places where there are lots of spiders, wear long sleeves and pants
      • Inspect outdoor tools and equipment before using 
      • Clean the outside environment
      • Avoid bed from touching the wall.
      • Also, avoid storing unused items below your bed.
      • Always vacuum cobwebs and throw them away inside sealed bags.
