      Warts are already infecting people since ancient times. Also, it is one of the oldest skin problems that are about 3,000 years. There are different types of warts that you need to know. Luckily, they are not dangerous skin problems, but it can affect the lives of many people. Although it is not deadly, it is not pleasing, and some people experience low self-confidence because of warts. Another thing is the fact that sometimes it is painful.

      Many are not aware, but there are 100 types or more of the virus that can cause warts. Almost all of these 100 are harmless, like the ones on the feet and hands. However, one needs to know that some can cause signs in the genital area. For women, this type can cause serious conditions like cervical cancer if left untreated. If you are a woman and think that you may have some warts on the genital area, see for a doctor’s advice. 

      Types

      Furthermore, five types of it can infect different parts of the body. Also, each one has a different appearance.

      1. Common

      It is a common wart that grows on fingers and toes, but it can also grow in other parts. Hence, it is rough, round, and grainy on the outside. The color is usually gray than the actual skin. 

      2. Plantar

      It is a type of wart that can appear at the sole of the feet. Hence, it is a type of warts that grow differently than others. The growth is within the skin and not on the skin. You can say that it is plantar if you notice a hole on your foot with hard skin. However, it is not dangerous, but most of the time, painful. Some people want immediate removal because it prevents them from doing activities like walking and standing. 

      3. Flat Warts

      It is known as warts on the face, arm, and thighs area. Mostly, it is very small that it is unnoticeable and harmless. This wart has a flat top that looks like it has been scraped. Also, it is commonly color pink, yellowish, or brown. 

      4. Filiform

      It is another wart on the face that is usually on the mouth, nose, neck, or just under the chin. It is not easy to spot because it is small and looks like a flap. Also, the color is the same as your skin.

      5. Periungual Warts

      One can see below or around the fingernail or toenails. It is one of the most painful among other types of warts on hands and feet. Hence, it can prevent the growth of nails.

      Diagnosis

      A skin doctor can tell the type of warts by just looking at it physically. In case of abnormality, a doctor may ask for a biopsy. It is done by scraping the top of the wart’s skin. Also, the procedure is not painful and dangerous.

      Prevention

      Moreover, if you already have some, you can stop it from spreading by not picking on it. It is better to cover it using a bandage. Additionally, always keep your hands dry because of warts like moist places. Hence, one needs to avoid shaving, combing, and brushing areas with warts. In case you have warts on hands, it is important always to wash and dry your hands.

      For genital warts

      • Avoid sexual activities
      • Use of condom
      • Avoid multiple partners
      • Get a vaccine for HPV

      1. Are warts contagious?

      Yes, the virus that causes it is highly transferrable. People with a weak body and children can easily get it. It can spread from skin to skin or by touching an object infected with the virus.

      2. Do warts bleed?

      A simple wart will not bleed unless it was scratched or injured. Hence, if it bleeds, one must call a doctor immediately. 

      3. Do warts be painful?

      Mostly, warts are not painful at all. However, it depends on its location where it grows. In case it is on the part which is pressed on like under the feet or fingernail, it can be painful. If you feel any pain, it is good to ask for possible treatment or removal of warts to your doctor.
