      Have you ever think of garlic as being bad for your health? It is a common ingredient in many dishes, so it is natural to eat garlic every day in a small amount. It is used as a flavoring and additional aroma to foods. Also, during old times it is a very popular medicine that can treat different types of diseases. However, overeating can cause bad garlic side effects. Read on if you want to find out how it can badly affect your health.

      1. Liver Problem

      The liver is an essential body part because of its uses. Hence, it involves different processes that are vital for the body to function well. However, garlic has an ingredient that can damage the liver. It is called allicin that is harmful to the liver. However, it will only cause harm if you eat a huge amount of garlic in a day. 

      2. Bad Breath

      Another bad garlic side effect is it can cause foul odor after eating it. Some studies show that the garlic’s smell can stay very long inside the mouth even after brushing. What makes it bad for the breath is its chemical. It is also the same ingredient that can offer its benefits. However, having bad breath is not good, so it is good not to overeat. Additionally, one can use a mouthwash or spray for a refreshing breath.

      3. Vomiting and Heartburn

      Some records show that eating raw garlic on an empty stomach can cause vomiting and heartburn. Hence, it can increase acid in the stomach. That is why it is not good for acidic people.

      4. Diarrhea

      Although eating fresh garlic can give you more nutrients, it is not good. Likewise, it can increase gas inside the stomach and lead to diarrhea. 

      5. Headache

      Garlic benefits and side effects are both present in raw. However, raw garlic can cause a person to have a headache. Eating it will not cause a headache right away, but it may happen over time. 

      6. Skin Rashes

      Some people may have skin rashes after overeating garlic. Hence, it is because of its ingredient that can cause an allergic reaction. Therefore, it is good to wear a glove when cutting garlic if you are allergic to it. Also, eating it can both give garlic benefits and side effects for the skin. 

      7. May Cause Too Lower Blood Pressure

      It is not good to eat more garlic if you are taking medicine for high blood pressure. Therefore, a doctor may disapprove of you to have a diet full of garlic. Also, eating raw in a salad can instantly decrease blood pressure as a side effect of garlic. 

      8. Promote Bleeding

      Moreover, if you are taking medicine to thin blood, it is not good to eat more garlic. Another side effect of garlic is a blood thinner. It is true, especially if you love eating it raw. It may also reduce the ability to stop bleeding, and it is not advisable to eat much before surgery. Therefore, you should not eat at least a week before going into surgery.  

      8. Excess Sweating

      According to some studies, eating more garlic can increase sweating for some. However, it needs more studies to prove it. 

      9. It Can Make Yeast Infection Worse

      Some women think that putting raw garlic in their vagina can solve yeast infection. However, it is not true and can only make it worse. Therefore it is better to always ask for a doctor’s advice first.

      10. Can Affect Vision

      There is another study that shows the bad side effect of overeating garlic on the eyes. Hence, it can cause a health problem that makes the eye bleeds. 

      Important Note

      Furthermore, there are specific foods that are not good to eat with garlic. Therefore, it is better to avoid eating these foods if you want to include garlic in your dish. Some of these are:

      • Red clover
      • Ginger
      • Ginkgo
      • Turmeric
      • Willow
      • Capsicum
      • Danshen
      • Horse chestnut

      It is good to say that anything in excess is really bad for your health. Therefore it also applies to garlic. Today, there are not many cases of serious bad effects of garlic on people. It is because we only use a small amount of it in dishes.
